How Clean Is Your Produce?

Make sure you are washing your produce before consuming-at all times! This list, courtesy of, comes from the annual Environmental Working Group’s release of tests to identify which fruits and vegetables contain the most pesticides.  Listed from dirtiest to cleanest, the most pesticide and chemical laden produce includes:

  1. Apples (98% of all apples tested contained significant pesticide residue)
  2. Celery
  3. Sweet bell peppers (Found 88 different pesticide residues including organophosphates)
  4. Peaches
  5. Strawberries
  6. Nectarines- imported to U.S.A. (Almost 100% of all tested contained heavy pesticides including organophosphates)
  7. Grapes
  8. Spinach
  9. Lettuce
  10. Cucumbers
  11. Blueberries- domestic U.S.A.
  12. Potatoes
